Coral-colored sunrises, waves in every shade of blue, and sunsets that shift from lavender to indigo to night … Seven Mile Beach is a festival of color, nature, and light. This summer, its beauty will be celebrated with a special exhibit when world-renowned artist Josef Kote returns to Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor on Aug. 7, 8 and 9.

Around the Seven Mile Beach, you almost have to go out of your way to not hear live music. Performances are often enjoyed from restaurants, bars, farmers markets, and outside store fronts. For many of us, our dream of becoming the next pop sensation stops at belting at the top of our lungs over blaring music (which masks our voice) with our windows down, riding through the island.

Some of my favorite memories of all time happened on warm summer nights. There’s just something about spending the day at the beach and the night out on the town. Every summer night at Seven Mile Beach feels like you are on vacation. There are so many great places to enjoy dinner and entertainment.

We have reached the last month of summer, and this year more than ever I keep thinking, “Summer, please don’t go!” Hopefully, you have had a chance to tackle some of the great titles on your summer reading list. If you haven’t, that’s OK – August is the perfect month to sit back and lose yourself in a good book. That’s because it’s usually too hot to do anything else! If you need any help cooling down, these thrillers are sure to give you the chills.

What a bizarre summer. It’s like we are living in a “Twilight Zone” bubble. There’s nothing for us to do but to do what we’re told and hope for the best. And so far? Based on the countless phone conversations I’ve had with friends and business acquaintances, I feel like we are doing our part and not losing our minds.
