Nighttime Entertainment in the Great Outdoors

Some of my favorite memories of all time happened on warm summer nights. There’s just something about spending the day at the beach and the night out on the town. Every summer night at Seven Mile Beach feels like you are on vacation. There are so many great places to enjoy dinner and entertainment. Although this year things aren’t exactly what we would call normal, there is still a lot of fun to be had before fall. While outdoor dining is becoming the norm, outdoor entertainment has been a summer staple for long time. Nothing beats listening to live music with your toes in the sand.

The ICONA Avalon, 7849 Dune Drive, has a few different happy-hour and nighttime options at its Sandbar Village Beach Bar & Lounge. With social-distancing rules in effect this summer, it’s a popular place to enjoy great food, cocktails, fire pits and live entertainment. There is live music every Monday through Saturday from 4-8pm. During the month of August, Robin Gazzara will be in the house every Monday, and you can spend your Tuesday nights with Anthony Friedlander. On Wednesday, Aug. 5 and 19, the Matt Adams Duo will be playing, and Seven Mile local MJ Nestor is on the stage Aug. 12 and 26. Thursday nights bring Keep The Change (Aug. 6),

the Amy Faden Duo (Aug. 13), and Sean Loosh (Aug. 20 & 27). Loosh also is playing most Saturday nights, including Aug. 1, 8, 15 and 29. Friday nights you can find anyone from The Zone (Aug. 14) to Keep The Change (Aug. 28). Reggae Sundays are back and better than ever! There is live music playing from 3-8pm including Cheezy and the Crackers (Aug. 2) and The Raggamuffins (Aug. 9, 16, 23 and 30).

“The Sandbar is the ultimate place for socially distant fun in the sun! Guests can relax and enjoy live entertainment all summer long with their toes in the sand at our open-air beach bar,” says Marketing Director Caitlin Humienny.

If you want to hit up the newest hot spot around, take a ride to the Lazy Bass Bayside Bar & Grill, 4001 Old North Wildwood Blvd. in Grassy Sound. The Lazy Bass just opened this summer and is already making a name for itself. Whether you are coming for lunch, dinner or just to relax, guests are invited to sink their toes in the sand while having a cocktail, enjoying a meal from a food truck and listening to live music. With the social distancing and COVID-19 precautions in place, the owners decided not to open the kitchen this summer and to have different food trucks there every night instead. Some of the popular ones include Hit the Road Jack, Philadelphia Eats, Nick’s Roast Beef and Executive Catering. There is live music seven nights a week from 5-9pm. Some of the highlights include Mike Thompson, who is there every Monday, Doug Kelley, Nicky Sbaffoni, Brian Ireland, Mike Beck and Sean Loosh. Bryen O’Boyle, former frontman of Mr. Green Genes, will be playing his acoustic sets on Aug. 12 and Sept. 11.

“We are excited to offer a delicious dining experience in a friendly, fun atmosphere,” says Lazy Bass owner Terri Hand. “Whether you come by car or boat, we invite you sit back, put your feet in the sand and watch the sunset over the water.”

There is something to do every night of the week. So, sit back, relax, listen to some great tunes and forget about this crazy world for while!
