Mark your calendar and break out all things stars and stripes as the Borough of Avalon celebrates the Fourth of July from July 1-4 with its All-American Celebration. With fun activities that the entire family can enjoy together, there is no better place to celebrate Independence Day.

Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor will host two outstanding art exhibitions in July: “Modern Masters” (Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, and Joan Miró), and “The Art of Dr. Seuss – 20th Anniversary Collection.”

Events at a Glance in Avalon & Stone Harbor

This fall, the 95th Street restrooms in Stone Harbor will be renovated into a brand-new comfort station. The Borough went out to bid this spring and recently awarded a contract to R. Maxwell Construction, of Pleasantville, in the amount of $350,000.

Avalon savors the air of consistency while Stone Harbor awaits the feel of a new breeze. From these vantage points, the Seven Mile beach patrols reflect the reality of lifeguard racing.

Congrats! Class of 2018

“Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it,” wrote Chicago Tribune columnist Mary Schmich in June 1992.

One thing we ask our new clients is: What keeps you up at night? When you were young, it might have been the bogeyman, or perhaps waiting for Santa Claus to deliver toys to your home on Christmas.

As July rolls around and you’ve settled into the Seven Mile summer mode, there is no better time than now to explore what’s new, what’s changed and what’s happening within the business community.

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 331 donated $6,000 in support of local organizations this year. Each receiving a gift of $1,000 were Disabled American Veterans Chapter 44, Veterans Haven South Winslow, Veterans Memorial Home at Vineland, Volunteers in Medicine at Cape May Court House, the Citizens/Veterans Advisory Committee of Cape May County, and NJ Detachment Commanders Project.

My coffee maker’s carafe cracked last week, and I’ve been improvising on ways to get my morning coffee. If I place my mug where the carafe goes and push the spout just the right way with a spoon, I can get my mug to fill.
