Whistleblowers have certainly been in the news and on our minds in recent years. That’s because anyone informing on someone engaged in an illicit activity – or so the definition goes – is already embedded in an inherently dramatic circumstance. So it’s no surprise that they turn up with a certain amount of regularity on the movie screen. Author’s note: Dear reader, I am writing this while the coronavirus is still gripping the United States. My head is not buried in the sand and I am fully aware of the seriousness of it all. But I’ve decided to plug on with what I do best: writing amusing little articles that might put a smile on your face. Carry on.

It’s been a wild ride the past few months as the coronavirus ravaged life as we know it, and forced everyone into prolonged quarantine and social distancing.

Last spring, the Seven Mile Island Living Laboratory was launched in a partnership involving The Wetlands Institute, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Philadelphia District), the USACE Engineer Research and Development Center, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Right about now, you are probably itching for quite a few nights out on the town! I know I am. It’s been a long spring, and the approaching summer is cause for celebration. Since you haven’t seen everyone in person in quite a while, you are going to want to make sure you look good when you finally do. The Avalon Borough Council unanimously approved the 2020 municipal budget during its meeting on April 8. The new budget was presented with no tax increase, the elimination of the last general obligation serial bond, and finances necessary for capital improvement projects needed throughout the town.
