Alicia Eger, owner of Coco Blu Boutique, is excited to open a pop-up store this summer, Coco Blu at Avalon Fitness Upstairs. The store will offer an array of moderately priced brands of fitness wear in fun, bright patterns, as well as some accessories.

“My mother, Nancy Crafts, has been a fitness guru on the Seven Mile Island for 22 years,” Eger says. “Formerly Island Aerobics, she decided to rebrand her fitness and cycling studio last year to Avalon Fitness Upstairs [it’s on the second floor]. She has always had a small fitness boutique but thought a collaboration with me would offer her fitness peeps, as well as the island community, an expanded offering of fitness, athleisure wear and accessories. We want women to find unique and creative outfits for both exercise and leisure. We felt there was a niche on the island since exercise and being fit is a major part of our lives.”

Eger grew up on Seven Mile Beach, attending Stone Harbor Elementary and Wildwood Catholic High School before earning a degree at the University of Maryland. She has been in retail for almost 20 years and was the co-owner of two previous boutiques before venturing out on her own to open Coco Blu Boutique in 2012. The Stone Harbor location was first, followed by a location in Wayne, Pa., and now the new pop-up shop at Avalon Fitness. The pop-up shop will be open in conjunction with the studio/class hours from 8am-noon daily and might add afternoon hours during the summer and as classes are added. The store will be collaborating with Avalon Fitness Upstairs to offer promotions and specials as well.

“I’ve always had a flair for fashion and with my studio arts background, I found my passion with apparel, jewelry and accessories,” says Eger. “My grandmother, Marie Fisher, taught me at a young age to sew and paint. My late father, David Crafts, taught me the appreciation of beautiful items with his great knowledge of antiques and art. My mother, Nancy Crafts, always taught me to go for my dreams and has been a great support throughout the years.”

Coco Blu Boutique prides itself on offering merchandise that appeals to a large range of tastes and budgets. The same will remain true for Coco Blu at Avalon Fitness Upstairs. Shop the pop-up shop this summer and check out the variety of fitness classes offered at the same time.
