Ocean Galleries will host renowned Albanian artist Josef Kote over Memorial Day weekend at its Stone Harbor location for a four-day exhibit as well as two gallery receptions with the artist.

Avalon’s keynote event speaker brings more than glittering military credentials to this occasion. Before the decorated 42-year career in the U.S. Army and New Jersey National Guard, leading to retirement as a brigadier general, Pierson grew up in Wildwood.

The Avalon Free Public Library will be a community hub for culture, literature, and fun this summer. From symphony to Storytime and everything in between, the library will keep residents and visitors entertained and engaged.

The Borough of Avalon and American Legion Post 331 will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 28.

Avalon and Stone Harbor have a mix of unique shopping, great food establishments, awesome fitness centers and salons and so much more. While each borough has its own business community, many residents and visitors enjoy traveling between the stretch of seven miles to check out the variety offered on the island.

Much like her signature lipstick kisses sent via greeting cards to family members and dear friends, Jeanne Sykes’ streak of love touched many lives.

Spring Events 2018

Meet the artist Saturday and Sunday from 7-10pm. Ocean Galleries is excited to welcome back renowned artist Josef Kote with his new exhibit, “Harmony in White,” featuring pieces created specifically for his shore customers in mind.

The Townsends Inlet Bridge, connecting Sea Isle City and Avalon, is one step closer to accepting E-ZPass for tolls. And the Grassy Sound Bridge, connecting Stone Harbor to North Wildwood, is already there.

For more than 600 years, ocean pirates have been recorded in history as treasure-chasers. I like to think of sea glass as a tiny treasure of the sea.

Sand, sun, surf, summertime and … safety. Five big “S” words mark Memorial Day to Labor Day on the beaches of the Jersey Shore.

What ever happened to afternoon tea? Wouldn’t it be nice to restore the tradition, or at least a version of it? It’s such a civilizing practice to take a moment each afternoon to sip on a healthy and delicious cup of tea and reflect on the activities of the day, to breathe, to reflect, to reenergize, to refocus and to connect with family and friends.

The bell rings and students are busting out the door on that final day of school. Summer is here, and the lazy days of summer greet us with the smell of sand and sea, the promise of ice cream and pizza, and the outlook of a blissfully empty calendar.
