Avalon
The Borough of Avalon and American Legion Post 331 will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 28. The parade will begin at 9am from 32nd Street and Dune Drive and proceed north to Veterans Plaza, 21st and Dune Drive, where Mayor Martin Pagliughi and members of the American Legion Post 331 will host a ceremony.
Attendees can claim a viewing spot along Dune Drive for the parade that features a variety of community organizations and members including the Patriot Brass Ensemble, the fire and police departments, the Avalon Free Public Library, the Garden Club, and more. Bagpiper Michael F. Bell and the Seven Mile Singers will offer patriotic melodies. Miss Avalon, Lauren Straub, will be escorted along the parade route as well.
Immediately following the parade, the mayor, members of American Legion Post 331 and borough officials will be joined by this year’s guest speaker, Cape May County Freeholder and retired Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Pierson. The ceremony will include a rifle salute, the playing of “Taps,” and a presentation of memorial wreaths.

Stone Harbor
The Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Department will honor fallen heroes during the annual Memorial Service at 11am. During the ceremony, members place names on the plaque at the memorial to honor firefighters who passed away during the year. Following the ceremony, American Legion Post 331 will sponsor its annual Memorial Day parade at noon featuring various community organizations. The parade will start on Third Avenue and proceed down
96th Street toward the Women’s Civic Club. Post 331 will offer a rifle salute on the beach, followed by an open house and ceremony at the post’s building at 117th and Second Avenue.
