July will mark the first time since the summer of 1991 that the mayor of Avalon will be anyone not named Marty Pagliughi. Pagliughi announced his plans to not seek reelection in March after 32 years as Avalon’s mayor. John McCorristin, 69, was elected Avalon’s new mayor on May 7.

Days Gone By - Stephen Ludlam
As part of Memorial Day Weekend we take time here to remember Private First Class Stephen Ludlam, the first resident of the Seven Mile Beach to lose his life in the line of duty. Stephen was a high school senior who had just turned 18 when he was drafted into World War II. Sadly, the 92nd Street resident was killed in action in France on Jan. 25, 1945.

Scott Wahl, the business administrator and public information officer for the Borough of Avalon, received his master’s degree in public administration from Grand Canyon University on May 3. He finished first in his class with a 4.0 GPA. In June, Wahl is beginning studies for his doctorate in organizational development with a dissertation on municipal government, also at Grand Canyon University.

I would take them to open gym at the rec center and play some ball just to help them get a little practice in on the weekends. I found that I could just barely touch the rim.
