The Swift family has long-running connections to the Stone Harbor community, and the new exhibit will honor Taylor’s childhood summers spent on Seven Mile Beach. From 1992-2004, Taylor vacationed with her family in Stone Harbor.

I like seafood. Quite often when I go out to dinner somewhere nice with my wife, I will order the fish and she will order the steak. Then, inevitably, when the food runner delivers the food, he or she will give me the steak and my wife the fish. I’m not sure why fish is inherently a woman’s meal and steak a man’s but it’s OK, I’m not offended.

It’s hard to remember a time when the Avalon Free Public Library wasn’t part of the landscape in Avalon, but here, the first pilings were just being installed 20 years ago. In the two decades since, the library has become the busy social hub of the Avalon community.

These young ladies are hamming it up for the camera on Avalon’s beach around 40th Street. Here, they appear to be Avalon’s version of the Rockettes in this long-forgotten June 1977 snapshot.
