It was a wide, three-story wooden Victorian structure right on the beach, with a wrap-around porch to catch cool ocean breezes and two tall widow’s peaks, where one could look for miles at the dunes and forest of undeveloped Avalon.

Seven years ago, when Superstorm Sandy swept through the Jersey Shore, the then-newly renovated Stephanie’s of Stone Harbor suffered immeasurable damage. Twenty inches of water filled the store at 9720 Third Ave., wiping out its merchandise and carpentry.

They “broke the seal” for the last time at Jack’s Place on Friday, May 20, 2017. The next “break” came at 10am on Friday, May 22, 2019 when Men & Machines Demolition unceremoniously took down part of the cinderblock wall that would make up Jack’s storage room behind the nightclub.

We have all heard the classic tongue twister, “She sells seashells by the seashore.” Like seashells, each boutique in Avalon and Stone Harbor is unique and has a story to tell.

When you live at the beach or are lucky enough to vacation here, you know that summer nights are just as unforgettable as sunny, summer days. Summer nights are filled with fun, laughter, and music that never ends.
