COLE BARONE
CAPE MAY TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL
Cole Barone, of Avalon, graduated from Cape May Technical High School with the completion of a three-year program and his certification in HVAC and Sustainable Energy. The son of Melissa and Chris Barone, Cole was a member of the varsity soccer team. This summer, in addition to enjoying time on the beach, he plans to return to his job at Ferrell Cooling & Heating and stay on through the fall full-time.
ISABELLA DIPASQUALE
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL
Isabella DiPasquale, of Avalon, graduated from Middle Township High School in June. She will attend West Chester University and plans to study nutrition and dietetics. The daughter of Megan and Sam DiPasquale, Isabella played lacrosse all four at MTHS and was an active member of the Key Club and Red Cross Club. This summer, she plans to work at The Henna Shop and The Spot, and go to the beach as much as possible.
CATE GIULIAN
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL
Cate Giulian, of Stone Harbor, graduated from Middle Township High School. The daughter of Kael and Amy Giulian, Cate will attend West Chester University and study communications. At MTHS, Cate ran cross country and served as student council president and class treasurer. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Red Cross Club, and received the 2019 Stone Harbor Triathlon scholarship award. This summer, Cate will work at The Watering Hull and hang out with friends before going away to school.
AVERY MASLOWSKY
CONESTOGA HIGH SCHOOL
Avery Maslowsky graduated with honors from Conestoga High School in June. The daughter of Sharon and Eric Maslowsky, of Berwyn, Pa., and Avalon, Avery will attend the University of Missouri Honors College, where she plans to major in journalism and join a sorority. Avery played varsity field hockey for three years in high school and was a varsity cheerleader for four years. She was named Pennsylvania Student Journalist of the Year for 2019 and was runner-up for National Student Journalist of the Year. This summer, Avery is interning with Seven Mile Publishing & Creative while also working at Isabel’s Bakery and Café. She also plans to spend as much time as possible on the beach before heading off to Missouri this fall.
CHRISTOPHER MINER
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL
Christopher Miner, of Dennisville, graduated from Middle Township High School in June. He will attend West Chester University and plans to major in computer science. The son of Peter and Christine Miner, he attended Avalon Elementary School. Christopher was a member of the MTHS Mock Trial team that advanced to the regionals his senior year. He was a student of the school’s STEM Academy and capped off his high school career with his final class in robotics. He plans to return to his summer job at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor as a sailing instructor before heading off to college.mestic Animal Services.
KENNEDY PEIRSON
CAPE MAY COUNTY TECHNICAL SCHOOL
Kennedy Peirson graduated from Cape May County Technical School on June 14 through the Natural Science Program. This fall, she will attend the University of Tampa, where she plans to study marine biology. Kennedy is the daughter of Michael Peirson and Valerie Waywell-Peirson, owners of Island Home Renovation and Design in Avalon. A graduate of Avalon Elementary School, Kennedy was an honor student throughout her four years at Cape May Tech. She served as vice president of the National Honor Society, captain of the cross-country team, and as a member of Peer Leadership, the Academic Competition Team, Skills USA and the Prom Committee. Kennedy also enjoyed being part of the Scuba and Snorkeling Club, the Environmental Protection Coalition and the Hammock Club. Before heading off to school this fall, Kennedy will be a camp counselor for her second year at the YMCA of the Pines in Medford, where she will work with children ages 7-16. Also, she has been working at the Cape May Sweet House.
JAKE RUSKEY
OCEAN CITY HIGH SCHOOL
Jake Ruskey, of Stone Harbor, graduated from Ocean City High School and will attend St. Joseph’s University. The son of Drs. John and Elizabeth Ruskey, Jake plans to major in business with a minor in environmental sustainability. While at OCHS, Jake was a four-year member of the OCHS crew team and a three-year varsity rower, played soccer and ran winter track. Jake was president of the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and the Peer Mediation clubs, and won a congressional award for his health-awareness video on anti-vaping. This summer, you can find Jake on the Stone Harbor beaches in his third year as a lifeguard. He also will be back at the Westside Saloon in West Wildwood.
WILLIAM SELGRATH
HATBORO-HORSHAM HIGH SCHOOL
William Selgrath, the son of Bill and Bernadette Selgrath of Horsham, Pa., and Avalon, graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in June. He will attend Penn State, where he plans to study mechanical engineering. At Hatboro-Horsham, Billy was involved with the student government and Feed A Friend, played intramural basketball, and was a member of the National Honor Society. This summer, you will find Billy working at his family’s restaurant, Sylvester’s Fish Market, spending time on the beach, and fishing before he heads to Penn State.
MARYKATE SELGRATH
CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY
Marykate Selgrath graduated from Catholic University of America in Washington with two degrees, in civil engineering and architecture. The daughter of Bill and Bernadette Selgrath, of Horsham, Pa., and Avalon, Marykate has accepted a position as an engineer with Davis Corporation in Washington. But before she begins her job in mid-August, she will enjoy summer in Avalon.
