Ocean Galleries Presents Interactive Exhibit with Autumn de Forest
Sept. 4-7
World-renowned artist Autumn de Forest returns to the Stone Harbor location for Ocean Galleries with a groundbreaking, interactive exhibit. “Rosies, Posies & Pearls” is a new collection of images from de Forest’s time during quarantine, featuring accompanying narratives from the artist with each piece. Avalon Paper Shredding Day
Sept. 7 (Labor Day)
Paper Shredding Day will be held on Labor Day from 9am-2pm. Residents are encouraged to bring their paper to the Department of Public Works at the 15th Street entrance, just east of Dune Drive.

Stone Harbor Farmers’ Market
Extended through Sept. 27
Stone Harbor recently announced the extension of its weekly Farmers’ Market through the end of September. The market, held every Sunday from 8am-12:30pm, will feature a variety of vendors offering fresh New Jersey products including fruit and vegetables, flowers, local honey, coffee and more.

End-of-Summer Shop Hop
Sept. 11-13
More than 25 Avalon stores are listed to participate in the End-of-Summer Shop Hop, sponsored by the Avalon Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the 7 Mile Business Community Association. The stores will offer large discounts on clothing, accessories, home décor, interior design, salon merchandise and more. For shoppers looking to take a break from the shopping frenzy, Bobby Dee’s Rock’n Chair will be open with outdoor dining and offer a menu of lunch and dinner options and specialty cocktails throughout the weekend.

Avalon Bulk Trash Collection
Sept. 14
The Borough of Avalon’s second bulk trash collection of the year will take place Monday, Sept. 14. Items may be placed curbside from Sept. 4-13, with final pick-up on Monday, Sept. 14. The Borough requests that residents do not place large items any earlier than these dates due to potential storm events, and reminds residents that construction and remodeling materials are not accepted. In addition to bulk trash collection, Avalon will continue to open the courtesy trash and recycle drop-off center at the Department of Public Works at the 15th Street entrance, east of Dune Drive. The center is open daily from 7am-3pm. For vacationers or residents who require trash disposal before their scheduled collection, this center is accessible for drop-off.

Saving September Weekend Stone Harbor Sip & Shop
Sept. 25
Stone Harbor will feature a “Sip & Shop” event throughout the downtown district from 6-9pm. Shoppers will be treated to live acoustic music throughout town, while strolling through the many boutiques and businesses offering complimentary “sips” outside of each participating business.

Stone Harbor En Blanc
Sept. 26
Participants are encouraged to dress in white and join the “Stone Harbor En Blanc” celebration. Diners can participate in a variety of ways including making reservations and dining al fresco at the many local restaurants, ordering takeout and enjoying dinner parties with friends and family at home, or signing up to participate in the “Sunset Diner En Blanc.” The event will be held at the 81st Street Marina from 6-8pm. Diners will reserve one of 32 available spaces along the sea wall of the public marina, and each reserved space can accommodate a party of eight. Participants will need to bring their own tables, chairs, décor, food and beverages, and will enjoy live music through the evening. When leaving, diners must remove all items that they brought with them.
Rain dates for Sip & Shop and Stone Harbor En Blanc are Oct. 2 and 3.

Avalon Dune Grass Planting
Oct. 25 (Rain date Oct. 26)
The Borough is planning for its annual dune grass planting. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up with Sue Keen at Borough Hall by calling 609-967-5924 prior to Oct. 20. They will be given all required tools and materials, and a short training session will be held prior to planting. The dune grass planting is vital to the local ecosystem as the planting helps to stabilize the dune system and creates a layer of resiliency for the Seven Mile beaches.

November General Election
Nov. 3
In Stone Harbor, Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour is running for re-election and council members Reese Moore and Robin Casper are also on the ticket for three-year terms. Voters can cast their ballots in person at the Stone Harbor Firehouse or the Avalon Community Hall.
