More than two dozen adorable children in an incredible array of floats and costumes took part in the 56th annual Al Cunard Baby Parade on 96th Street in Stone Harbor on July 9. The youngsters were dressed up as their favorite TV and movie characters, superheroes and much more.
Lions’ Golf Classic Raises More Than $50,000
The Avalon Lions Charities Foundation celebrated a decade of giving when it held its 10th annual Charity Golf Classic on Sunday, June 24. More than 140 golfers hit the links to enjoy a beautiful day of golf at Avalon Golf Club and helped the Lions raise more than $50,000 to benefit the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children.

His one-of-a kind hat draws abundant social chatter, all through town. Cogliano has an unusual treasure, featuring the Stone Harbor beach tag for every year dating back to 1972. He has extras at home, bringing the combined total to more than 120.

Everyone knows that birds of a feather flock together, but for the laughing gulls in Stone Harbor and Avalon, this saying is no joke. Unknown to many, the marshlands behind Stone Harbor and Avalon host the world’s largest nesting colony of Leucophaeus atricilla, a species known as the “laughing gull” and characterized by its dark gray wings and black head.
