Hooping It Up In the Atlantic Cape Junior High League
Lots of great fun to celebrate this season with the Avalon-Stone Harbor Elementary School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams that competed in the Atlantic Cape Junior High League.
On the boys’ side, coaches Antonio Martin and Juan Vazquez led the Sharks to 2-8 varsity and 6-4 junior varsity records. Individually, Nolan Davidson became the school’s all-time rebounding leader with 227 boards, and Alex Gonzalez became a member of the school’s century club (100 or more points in a season) with 131 points.
Meanwhile, the girls’ squads under coaches Carol Barnoski and Tom Marshall compiled a 3-7 record in varsity competition while the JV team managed a perfect 10-0 and took second place in the prestigious Scoop Taylor Tournament. Chloe Musser became the girls’ all-time rebound leader with 200 while Ava Barnoski and Blake Barnoski each joined the century club with 149 and 115 points, respectively.
And a special shout-out to the school’s first cheer team for making home games a ton of fun for everyone in attendance.
