Spring is one of the greatest times of the year, especially when you are young and in love, when hope springs eternal. Young love can be one of the happiest times in your life, as well as your family’s. A young couple has been dating and finally gets engaged. Now, the fun starts.

Welcome back, friends! Spring is in the air, so my mood has significantly improved. I am a fair-weather girl, to be sure. It’s time to crack open the windows, let the fresh air in and hatch some good party plans for spring.

Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi put an end to speculation that had been circulating for several months when he recently announced that he would not seek reelection as the Borough’s chief executive in the May election.

When you think of where you might find cacti in the United States, New Jersey is probably not one of the first states that comes to mind. However, New Jersey is home to Opuntia humifusa, commonly known as Eastern prickly pear cactus, or devil’s-tongue.

One of the best things about spring is being able to wear bright, colorful patterns and finally take off that winter coat! The trend this year is floral patterns, flowing sleeves, and ruffle trim. I just watched the latest Bond movie, “No Time to Die.” I’d say it was one of the better Bond movies, if you are into that kind of thing. One of the last lines in the movie (spoiler alert) is delivered by the character “M” as he reads a quote from a book: “The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”

Easter Services for 2023

Spring has sprung and that means just a few more short months until summer finally arrives on Seven Mile Beach. We can’t wait to hit the beach and jump in the ocean! If you’re getting tired of waiting like we are, here are some new titles to help you pass the time.

Still a little cool for this group trying to catch some rays on the Stone Harbor beach in the spring of 1962. Cool, but still needed an umbrella. Let us know if you recognize anyone.

Patrick and Jeanette Heaney first met their mail carrier when they moved to Avalon in 1985. John Yoast introduced himself and welcomed them to the community by offering to install their mailbox. Yoast has continued to deliver their mail for the last 37 years during the summer months.
