MAILMAN HAS THEIR STAMP OF APPROVAL
Patrick and Jeanette Heaney first met their mail carrier when they moved to Avalon in 1985. John Yoast introduced himself and welcomed them to the community by offering to install their mailbox. Yoast has continued to deliver their mail for the last 37 years during the summer months.
The Heaneys stopped in the Avalon Post Office to express their gratitude to Yoast for his years of dedicated service and requested a special photo op with their mail carrier. Avalon Postmaster Melissa Lomax coordinated the shots.
“John’s service and commitment has been superior all of these years,” Jeannette Heaney says. “He never misses a beat when delivering our weekly Premium Forward Service shipments while we are in Avalon during the summer. This sort of unwavering service doesn’t happen often, and we are certainly grateful to John for all of his efforts.”
Patrick Heaney agrees: “John’s upbeat personality and super-friendly demeanor certainly adds to our mail-delivery experience. With John’s dependable service, we know that our mail is in good hands.”
AVALON GIRLS’ TEAM WINS LEAGUE TITLE
Undefeated champions. That’s what we call the Avalon Recreation Department’s third- and fourth-grade girls’ basketball team, after it completed a 15-0 season by winning the championship of the Southshore Basketball League. The team was also the Scoop Taylor Tournament champions for their age group. The girls on the team are from Avalon, Stone Harbor and Middle Township.
