2019 Shiver “One For the Books”
The luck of the Irish brought sunny skies and 50-degree weather for the ninth annual Stone Harbor Shiver over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Hundreds of residents and visitors alike decked to the nines in green and gold attended the event in support of Family Promise of Cape May County.

Blufish Designs furniture store and showroom grew and grew.
There was one Blufish in Avalon. A second store in Stone Harbor made it two.

Meet the Candidates
Voters in Avalon will head to the polls for the municipal election on Tuesday, May 14 from 6am-8pm. The Borough of Avalon has three positions to be filled, including a four-year term for mayor and two four-year terms on council. Mayor Martin Pagliughi, councilwoman Barbara Juzaitis and newcomer Samuel Wierman are running together as Team Avalon.

As most of the regulars to this column know, I tend to ponder the world around us. I mostly look for the good and work to identify how we can collectively make things better. I am so happy to say that our island community has taken a remarkable and bold step to do a lot better and I am proud that we did.

Times Talk
Longtime Avalon resident Barbara Juzaitis was appointed by Avalon Borough Council to serve the remainder of an unexpired term of Dick Dean, who retired. Council voted for the appointment unanimously during its Dec. 12 meeting and Mayor Martin Pagliughi administered the oath of office.
