Avalon mail carrier John Yoast was honored Feb. 22 with a surprise luncheon at the post office for his dedication in nearly 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Although his official work anniversary falls on Aug. 20, the celebration was held in honor of “Thank a Mail Carrier Day” (Feb. 4).

When wedding bells ring on our island, they often accompany the divine sounds of multitalented church musician David Joseph Condo and his singer associates.

Hundreds of Irish and wannabe Irish descended to Stone Harbor for the eighth annual Stone Harbor Shiver, held on St. Patrick’s Day this year.

This is always one of my favorite event articles to write. We’ve survived the dregs of winter, and we’re optimistic about the spring. At the slightest hint of temps above 40 degrees, we’re out in our short sleeves and flip-flops.

Winter in New Jersey is a wonderful time to stroll our beautiful beaches. There is a wildness and energy to the beaches that is absent in the warmer months.

Avalon Stone Harbor Schools is on a quest to highlight its esteemed alumni. This spring, the district is searching for past students to showcase their achievements on its website, avalonstoneharborschools.org and help keep peers connected through its Facebook page.

Seven Mile Word Search Puzzle

The Avalon Home and Land Owners Association will hold its 11th annual Community Connections event on Saturday, April 14 starting at 9:30am. Attendees have the unique opportunity to connect with local clubs and organizations and learn about important updates from Cape May County.

It was a quiet year for weather in the mid-Atlantic region in 2017, but elsewhere in the United States, powerful weather affected the lives of millions.

Happy spring! After this long, wet winter, I’m looking forward to some warm, sunny weather.

We did have some exciting events over the winter. One such event was spending a cold December morning with Xavier Vignon, the owner of Xavier Vins.

There’s just something about spring that makes everything seem new again. The sky is bluer, the grass is greener and hopefully your closet has had a nice spruce-up, too. When you are out shopping for the latest must-haves, don’t forget about your home. !

By now, you all know that one of my passions in life is craft beer. But perhaps my other most favorite thing in life is traveling the world and having new experiences. Each fall, I try to embark on a new journey to a different corner of the globe.

The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor recently named Michael Loefflad to the position of chef de cuisine, working in tandem with Executive Chef Michael Blaszczyk.

I am so amped that spring is here. I spent two weekends in March reviewing and preparing our fishing gear. With a cotton swab, I checked every guide on every fishing rod for nicks and chips.
