Author Lecture with Laurie Zaleski of Funny Farm Rescue

Laurie Zaleski is the founder of the Funny Farm, a charitable organization located in the Mizpah community of Mays Landing. Since 2000, the farm has welcomed all kinds of rescue animals. She will be in Avalon to discuss her recently released memoir, “Funny Farm,” an inspiring and moving memoir of her turbulent life and experiences with 600 rescue animals.

History Center Kids’ Event: Scouts, Spies, Soldiers
Noon, 39th Street Tennis Building
This event is presented by Liberty Hall Museum and suggested for ages 8-12. During the American Revolution, Washington’s network of spies was responsible for obtaining information that would change the course of the war. Students will learn secret codes and methods used by the era’s spies, make a secret codebook, and will discover how secret messages conveyed by a spy network changed the course of the American Revolution. Lecture: Bon Voyage: 200 Years of Luxury Travel

Join Liberty Hall educators as the Avalon History Center brings to life several trips and vacations that the Livingston and Kean families took between 1780 and 1950. Neil Berg’s widely acclaimed “100 Years of Broadway,” a musical revue of Broadway’s most celebrated shows, features a dazzling cast of five Broadway stars accompanied by an all-star New York band. Beachside Science Lecture: Turtles at the Shore

Join this year’s annual parade of boats with the fun theme, “TV Sitcoms.” Deck your boats and docks (and yourself) to represent your favorite sitcom and enjoy an evening on the back bays of Stone Harbor. Boats will line up at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor and begin parading to basins throughout Stone Harbor. All dock and boat participants are invited to join the YCSH after-party.
