Get ready for a fun-filled, star-spangled week as the Boroughs of Avalon and Stone Harbor celebrate the Fourth of July. From June 30 to July 4, experience the exciting events that these towns have planned with your family and friends.

They “broke the seal” for the last time at Jack’s Place on Friday, May 20, 2017. The next “break” came at 10am on Friday, May 22, 2019 when Men & Machines Demolition unceremoniously took down part of the cinderblock wall that would make up Jack’s storage room behind the nightclub.

The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor celebrates its 90th anniversary in dramatic style this summer.

By now, almost everyone has learned there’s a good chance that by this time next summer, a familiar landmark on the Seven Mile Beach will be missing.

In her other life as a gifted artist who works in a variety of mediums – from watercolors to sculpting to even creating artsy home goods – Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Jane Seymour has become enamored with the Jersey Shore over the past 15 years, particularly the Seven Mile Beach.

Red, white, blue, and something new for you! July is the perfect time to head to Avalon and Stone Harbor and check out all that the business community has to offer.

Should you do a financial plan? And if so, how? The first part is easy, and the answer is a resounding YES. The second part is not so simple.

Note, this family-fun event is NOT a race! Just a leisurely bike ride during low tide from 9th Street to the Fishing Pier on 32nd Street and back. Proceeds from the event benefit the Brendan Borek Endowed Fund at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. More information: brendansfund.org

Featuring children’s activities, crafts and giveaways from 5:30-7pm including face painting, character appearances and more, followed by a live band performance from 7-8:30pm.

With the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of The Wetlands Institute, I have taken time to reflect upon the value of this organization to the Seven Mile community and beyond.

July 2019 Calendar

Work continues on the Townsends Inlet Bridge and Cape May County officials recently announced a projected reopening date of July 30.

The Avalon Volunteer Fire Department held its third annual benefit dinner May 15 at the recently opened Polpo Ristorante.
