We know, we know, you really don’t want to change out of your bathing suit to get dressed up to go out. Who could blame you? If that is an option for you, then we say go for it – after all, you are at the beach!

Summer means beach days, boats, drinks, hunting for ghost crabs and riding your bike everywhere. Summer also means entertaining! When you have a beach house, or live at the shore, chances are you have visitors quite often. We have searched the best stores on the island to help you gather everything you need for a perfect beach-house party.

Beach-tag inspectors are commonplace along the Jersey coast today. But back in 1972 they were in uncharted waters in Avalon, where beach fees were being collected for the first time. This is a photo of Avalon’s first beach-tag inspectors pictured along with Mayor Edgar V.H. Bell in May 1972. Can you help us identify anyone in this photo?

No one ever said that being a parent was easy. While it is certainly the greatest and most rewarding job out there, it is also probably the most exhausting. As parents, we spend the school year running around like crazy.

Ahhhh, the hot days of summer are here. These are the days you should be spending on the beach, out in the boat, at the playground and just having fun with your family and friends.

One of the nicest things about going out at the beach is that you don’t have to dress up if you don’t want to. You can wear a sundress or a comfortable outfit and it won’t make a difference. Even better is that they both go great with flip-flops! There are a lot of stores that have lines with a more comfortable, beachy vibe. One of my all-time favorites is She Be Surfin’.
