The holidays are here and there is so much to be thankful for this season. We hope you are planning to spend a lot of time on Seven Mile Beach with family and friends, enjoying the magic. Autumn Events

Stephen Coskey and Christine Mina were married Sept. 17 at Stephen’s parents’ home in Avalon. The couple then celebrated their marriage with family and friends on Oct. 15 at Yards Brewing Company in Philadelphia. Christine is the daughter of Joe and Andrea Mina, of King of Prussia, Pa., and Stephen is the son of Dave and Monica Coskey, of Avalon.

The holiday season is here again and most of us are left wondering how it got here so fast! There are so many things to be grateful for, and celebrating the true meaning of the holidays with friends and loved ones is truly a blessing! With all of the excitement, it’s easy for the real meaning of each day to get lost.

Not so very far back on this Days Gone By … Back to only about 1994 … Here is Monsignor Patrick Tierney (1933-2009) amid the festive Christmas decorations of the Sacred Heart Church in Avalon. Born in Meath, Ireland, Monsignor Tierney was ordained in 1957 and served at Maris Stella from 1992 until his retirement in 2009.

The holidays are a magical time to spend on Seven Mile Beach. The whole island is decorated festively and lit up with a tons of holiday lights. Don’t be surprised if you find the weekends as busy as they sometimes are during the summer months. There are plenty of people in town to take advantage of shopping deals and enjoy the extensive list of events planned from now through New Year’s Eve.

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble. Every year when the temperature drops, the leaves start to change color, and locals’ summer has come to its inevitable end, my house turns into this scene from “Macbeth.”

I always like to finish the year leading up to the holidays on a positive note. Some years it is easier than others.

I’m writing this on Oct. 13, and 2022 has been a crazy year to date. COVID is still around, supply-chain demand still remains an issue, geopolitics with China and the Ukraine war are affecting global markets, and last but not least, inflation is center stage.
