Endless Summer 2020
Beach Reads
I’m always sad to see the summer go. When there are only a few weeks left, I already start to miss it and begin planning for when the next one comes. My heart belongs to the beach, for sure. If I could, it’s where I would spend each and every day, while reading every book I could get my hands on. Even the best book is better when you read it on the beach.
Financially Speaking: Ebb and Flow
An ebb and flow is a recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going, or decline and regrowth. To me, that is what life feels like this year. Whether it is the coronavirus cases that were starting to decrease in number earlier this summer, then starting to spike again in July, or perhaps it is a 401(k) plan moving up and then down, life does go on.
Seven Mile Style: Casual Chic
The secret to a great casual outfit is to find something that feels comfortable but looks good, too. While this is not always an easy task, The Preppy Palm had plenty for us to choose from. You never know how a fall night is going to be. It could be hot and humid or cold and breezy. Whether you are taking a late-night walk on the beach, sitting out by the fire pit, or just snuggling on the couch at home, this outfit will have you looking stylish and cozy.
Kids Picks
It’s hard to believe the summer is ending. Sometimes it felt like it was taking forever, and at other times it was just flying by. School is on the horizon, and most likely it will look different for everyone reading this. Whether you are in school full time, in school part of the time, or if you are online completely, chances are you are going to have a back-to-school reading list to conquer. Some teachers like to assign the books to read and others let you pick your own. If you are having trouble choosing, here are some ideas with that back-to-school vibe!
Days Gone By
As the Stone Harbor Sunday Softball League wraps up its COVID-shortened 2020 season, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at the league’s roots. The Stone Harbor Sunday League dates back to the early 1970s when it was formed primarily as “restaurant/bar” Sunday league. The league has withstood the test of time and lots of changes in almost a half-century of competitive fun.
DVD: Divine Viewing Diversions
The courtroom drama might not have the commercial sizzle or blockbuster potential of the action thriller or the superhero adventure.
But it’s nearly always with us in one way or another. Whether fictional or factual, it compels us and diverts us and pleases us and satisfies us. It even has us spouting legalese – whether we’re actually lawyers or not.
So here are 10 of the very best legal dramas ever made, as voted by a jury of one.
Warming Up to the Sauna
You’d never know it just by looking, but my wife turned 40 this year. We don’t usually do big birthday celebrations, but 40 is a big one. Some people don’t handle getting older very well, but I think Kate is more OK with it than most. She is a special lady, so I wanted to do something special for her day. I didn’t think throwing her a huge party in the middle of a pandemic was the best idea. So, I bought her a sauna.
Stress and Adrenal Fatigue
Your body is hard-wired to react to stress in ways meant to protect you against threats from predators and other aggressors. For example, think of a prehistoric caveman with a boar coming at him. These kinds of threats are rare today, but that doesn’t mean that life is free of stress.
