Longtime residents of Stone Harbor fondly recall Bud’s Market, located at 83rd Street and Ocean Drive, and its kindly proprietor, Mario “Bud” Zuccato. The story of Bud’s Market and the Zuccato family stretches back several decades and over three generations.

As the Stone Harbor Sunday Softball League wraps up its COVID-shortened 2020 season, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at the league’s roots. The Stone Harbor Sunday League dates back to the early 1970s when it was formed primarily as “restaurant/bar” Sunday league. The league has withstood the test of time and lots of changes in almost a half-century of competitive fun.
