Last summer I was sitting on the beach eating an ice cream sandwich and watching a man in his early 30s hurtling his young daughter up and down in the surf. This was clearly entertaining her immensely, and every time Dad caught her, she would scream, “Again!”

It’s hard to believe that summer is over. Every year it seems to go by faster and faster! Now it’s time to go back to school, back to sports and just back to the craziness that the fall months bring.

The promise of an endless summer is what helps get me through what the locals consider the hectic summer months and the vacationers call the dog days of summer. Either way, what an incredible and fun summer it was! School is back in session and life is returning to a more structured schedule and pace.

Here are three quality films that opened theatrically earlier this year and will reward viewers who seek them out. One is a comedy, one a comedic-thriller sequel, and one a female version of a male-dominated caper flick.
