The Stone Harbor Shiver Attracts All the Cool People

The 2025 Stone Harbor Shiver was another unforgettable weekend filled with laughter, team spirit, and fun!

Once again coinciding with St. Patrick’s Day weekend, festivities kicked off on Friday, March 14, with a Pre-Shiver dinner party at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor complete with an Irish buffet, cash bar, auction, DJ, and 50/50 raffle.

On Saturday, Fred’s Tavern hosted “Sips & Dips” prior to plunging into the Atlantic Ocean. Then the parade down 96th Street to the beachfront lot was led by 2025 Shiver King Sean Loosh and Queen Stacey Hand.

As they made their way down the parade route, teams donned a wide range of costumes, from sea creatures and pirates to Eagles players and leprechauns with the sounds of the Whoa Phat Brass Band keeping spirits high.

Once at the beachfront lot, Stone Harbor Mayor Tim Carney welcomed the crowd and handed the stage over to the 13 teams that had prepared fun and quirky performances prior to taking the big plunge. Choreographed dances, music, and even some football plays provided laughs and entertainment for the crowd on this foggy and damp day.

At the sound of the cannon from the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor, crowds flocked into the Atlantic Ocean for a brief dip: The air temperature of 41 degrees was almost identical to the ocean temperature.

After changing their clothes, plungers warmed up at Fred’s Tavern After-Plunge Party where the best acts were recognized. After tallying up the scores, Best Name was awarded to “Pork Roller Derbies,” Best Costumes went to “Salty Sea Dogs,” Best Float was “Barbie’s Birthday,” Best Individual SHivvverer was given to “Defying & Flying,” and Best Performance went to “Rock Lobster.” Congrats to all the talented performers!

Proceeds from the weekend’s fun benefited the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce and The Branches Outreach of Rio Grande, which provides food and personal care items to those in need in Cape May County.
