Shake off this past year and sign up to participate in your own creative way! Shiver & Shake any time between March 20 and May 2, and share your photos and videos to qualify for prizes, plus pick up your Shiver apparel at the Stone Harbor Welcome Center. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to join the Borough of Avalon for its annual spring dune grass planting. The morning will begin at Avalon Community Hall for training and supply distribution, followed by a morning giving back to our beautiful beaches. Participants will join author Jana Milbocker of Enchanted Gardens to learn how jazzy containers are the “jewelry” of a garden. Learn how to brighten shady spots with pops of color, create focal points and stunning container groupings. Registration is required.

Author Kit O’Toole will discuss how Motown began as the first black-owned label in 1959, reached widespread national success, and would substantially transform music and culture. This lecture explores the evolution of the label, from its beginnings through its 1960s heyday, 1970s political statements, and the 1980s funk and R&B. Registration is required.
