EX-MARINE TAKES THE BEACH, THEN THE CONTEST

David Luttenberger, a Marine veteran who submitted a photo of himself posing with his sand sculpture of the U.S. Marine Corps logo on the 30th Street beach, was named the winner of the 2019 Summer Memories Photography Contest.

The annual contest, sponsored by the Avalon Chamber of Commerce, encourages residents and vacationers to submit their favorite photos of the Seven Mile Beach for judging via Facebook. The Chamber received more than 130 entries capturing scenic island views, island hot spots, family fun and more. Luttenberger’s entry received the most votes.

“We really enjoy this annual contest because we receive so many great photos from our vacationers enjoying the island we all love so much,” said Chamber president John O’Dea. “It gives us a little insight on visitors and their favorite places and spaces, and why they continue to return to the Seven Mile Island.”

The 2020 Summer Memories Photo Contest will begin on Memorial Day weekend. Photo submissions can be submitted by email to info@visitavalonnj.com or via Avalon’s Facebook page at facebook.com/avalonnewjersey. Happy vacation!
