Stone Harbor Beach Opening Ceremony

Wear your red, white and blue and cheer on Stone Harbor’s finest in a fun and competitive day! The Stone Harbor Survivor competition returns for the second year featuring the borough’s beach patrol, fire and rescue squads and the police departments as they engage in a series of challenges and games for the trophy. Following the announcement of this year’s winner, Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour will officially open the beaches for the 2019 season.

“Samir Sammoun – Master Impressionist”

Ocean Galleries welcomes renowned Impressionist Samir Sammoun for his first seashore exhibit. The new exhibit, “Master Impressionist,” will feature more than 70 of Sammoun’s original oil paintings including many landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes. The exhibit will be open through the weekend with special artist receptions with Sammoun on Saturday and Sunday from 7-10pm.

19th Annual Turtle Trot 5K & 2-Mile Fun Walk

Stone Harbor Farmers Market

This farmers market is entering into its 11th year, opening every Sunday through the summer to offer fresh produce, meats, desserts and more all locally grown and created in southern New Jersey. The first farmers market of the summer will include a traditional parsley ribbon cutting at 10am, and will feature live music by guitarist Jeff Nowmos.

Avalon Memorial Day Parade
9am, 32nd Street and Dune Drive to 21st Street, ending at Veterans Plaza
Avalon Yacht Club Commodore Joseph Loeper is this year’s parade marshal, and he will be joined by American Legion Post 331 Commander Thomas McCullough, the Patriot Brass Ensemble and a number of civic organizations in a parade down Dune Drive. The ceremony will feature comments from McCullough, Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi and guest speaker, former U.S. Army Sgt. R. Bruce Land. In the event of rain, the parade will be canceled, and the ceremony will be held in Avalon Community Hall.

Stone Harbor Memorial Day Service
11am Service for Fallen Heroes, Noon Parade and Ceremony, 1-4pm American Legion Open House
The Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Department begins the day with its annual memorial service to honor firefighters who have died during the past year at the Stone Harbor Firehouse. Following the service, American Legion Post 331 will lead the Memorial Day parade starting at St. Paul Church north on Third Avenue to the Women’s Civic Club of Stone Harbor. Following a ceremony, the Legion will host an open house from 1-4pm.
