Avalon
The Borough of Avalon will honor its past and present servicemen and servicewomen during its Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 30. Sponsored by American Legion Post 331 and the Borough, the parade will begin promptly at 9am at 32nd Street and Dune Drive and travel north to Veterans Plaza, followed by the ceremony.
The parade, returning after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, will include a number of local clubs and civic organizations. The ceremony will feature Mayor Martin Pagliughi and keynote speaker Command Chief Master Sergeant (ret.) Michael R. Francis of the U.S. Navy.
American Legion Post 331 will perform the flag raising and gun salute, and Borough officials and club leaders will conduct the formal presentation of wreaths in honor of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have given their lives for our country.
In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be canceled and the ceremony will take place at the Avalon Community Hall at 9am.
