Avalon Prime Steakhouse at ICONA Windrift

105 80th St, Avalon | 609-368-5175 | icona.com/windrift/dining

ICONA is excited to offer a new restaurant on Seven Mile Beach: Avalon Prime Steakhouse at the Windrift. The restaurant will offer delectable seafood, premium cuts of beef, and refreshing cocktails.

Avalon Prime will sit in the previous location of Restuarant 105. The restaurant, which underwent an expansion and total renovation, will continue to offer Restaurant 105 favorites like the wild caught halibut, while incorporating new dishes like the lobster tail, crab cakes, and jumbo shrimp. Avalon Prime’s offers several choice steak cuts, including filet mignon, NY strip, porterhouse, and more. The menu also boasts several sauces like bearnaise, au poivre, and the AV prime house steak sauce.

“While Avalon & Stone Harbor offer many tremendous dining options, we felt one major category was missing … a steakhouse!” says Caitlin Humienny, ICONA’s director of marketing. “In fact, Cape May County as a whole only has one other restaurant focusing on steak that we know of, down in Cape May, so we’re excited to offer a great steakhouse for visitors and locals further north.”

Avalon Prime is the perfect stop to celebrate summer. Whether you are commemorating a special occasion, or just celebrating the weekend, Avalon Prime is a must-visit.

Juice Pod is a New Jersey staple. This summer the business, which serves fresh food to the tri-state area, is returning to Avalon. The new location will be on the corner of Dune Drive and 20th Street.

In 2016, Danielle Leonhardt opened the first Juice Pod location in Avalon. Since then, she has partnered with her sister Christine Wyatt and expanded to locations in Center City Philadelphia, North Wildwood, Sea Isle City, and other areas.

Because the original Avalon location no longer exists, Danielle and Christine are excited to return to Seven Mile Beach. Leonhardt loves the community of customers, employees, and smoothie-fanatics that Juice Pod has built.

“My favorite part is meeting new people every day,” she says, “building relationships through loyal customers, and working with employees every day — from all different high schools and colleges. We have built a place where people can come with their friends and families and eat healthy food. Juice Pod is a meeting place, a healthy happy place.”

In addition to fresh smoothies, bowls, and juices, Juice Pod offers wraps, salads, and paninis. This summer, the business will also serve several Seven Mile-themed items. The Whitebrier Bowl and the Princeton Bowl, which both contain an açai blend with various fruit toppings, are fan favorites!

9712 Third Ave., Stone Harbor

The Freeze is expanding down Seven Mile Beach! This summer, Avalon Freeze is opening a second location on 97th Street in Stone Harbor. The new location, called Stone Harbor Freeze, will offer the Freeze’s classic twisted cones.

In the late 1950s, Avalon Freeze opened under the name Tasty Freeze. Since then, the iconic business has continued to serve Seven Mile with soft-serve ice cream. For years, Patty Rutledge and her late husband Mark owned and operated Avalon Freeze and Cafe Loren. In 2022, Scott Zurawski and Karin Procaccino purchased the property.

Since purchasing the business, the new owners have continued to create summer memories by serving ice cream. “Scott and I both grew up loving Avalon Freeze,” Procaccino says. “Like so many people on the island, we’ve spent countless summer nights enjoying ice cream with family and friends. We love seeing how a simple ice cream cone can make someone so happy.”

Zurawski and Procaccino’s inspiration for a second location was borne out of a love for Seven Mile Beach. “We are very invested in our community,” she says, “and when an opportunity presented itself, we thought it was the perfect space for a second location. We love the idea of employing and serving as many people on the island as possible.”
