Join in the 31-block individual sandbag carry on the beaches of Stone Harbor that features different challenges including squats and burpees. Also offered is a Kids Run with obstacles for anyone 10 and under who wants to join in the activities. All participants will receive a shirt and a medal.

The Parkinson Council and the Storbeck Family will host 13th annual Flip Flop Walk in Avalon. Funds raised at this event help The Parkinson Council invest local dollars into our local community for research, comprehensive care, movement programs, and quality of life initiatives. The two-mile walk starts at the Avalon Community Hall and winds down the Avalon boardwalk, looping to Avalon Drive to return to the community hall for cool sweet treats and beach-themed raffle items!

Erin Rawls, outreach co-coordinator for The Wetlands Institute, will introduce participants to several species of turtle that can be found locally. This includes the Northern Diamondback Terrapin, the only reptile found in a salt marsh and the turtle you’re most likely to see crossing the road in Avalon.

Climate change is on everyone’s mind these days and the impact in South Jersey, especially at the shore, is critical. You’ll want to hear what meteorologist Joe Martucci has to say about it. He has been the meteorologist for The Press of Atlantic City since 2017, covering Cape May, Atlantic, Ocean and Cumberland counties. Transforming media meteorology, Martucci is the only meteorologist at a newspaper in New Jersey.
