SUPER TO MEET YOU, JOE
You never know who you might run into on a weekend Sundae Best run in the summer in Avalon. It’s the cherry on the sundae when you run into Super Bowl XLVII MVP Joe Flacco, the quarterback who led the Baltimore Ravens to the title in February 2013. Posing with Joe are (from left) Charlie Matthews, Ben Matthews, Greyson Bareswell, Gavin McDonnell, and Molly McDonnell.

SPEAKING OF THE WEATHER
Everyone likes to talk about weather, so it was an informative and entertaining evening July 19 in the Avalon Community Hall with Joe Martucci, the Press of Atlantic City meteorologist. Joe talked about the “Cape May bubble” and current weather patterns, and answered everyone’s questions. Great event provided by the Avalon Environmental Commission and the Avalon Free Public Library ... in the very comfortably air-conditioned Community Hall.

MARIA BELLO NOMINATED FOR EMMY
She spent her summers just across the bridge at her family’s vacation home in Townsend’s Inlet. And she was just nominated for an Emmy for her role as Jordan Foster in the Netflix series, “Beef.”
A native of Norristown, Pa., if you ever made the late-night run across the bridge after the Bongo Room to the Charcoal House in TI, Maria may have been your server. Closer to home, Maria’s sister Lisa was a longtime bartender at Jack’s Place in Avalon. Bello starred in films including “Permanent Midnight,” “Payback,” “Coyote Ugly,” “Secret Window,” “The Mummy,” “Tomb of the Dragon Empire,” “Grown Ups,” and more. She also appeared in the third and fourth seasons “ER” and as Special Agent “Jack Sloane on “NCIS.”
