ELIZABETH GLADDEN AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP

Elizabeth Gladden, who has grown up spending her summers in Avalon, was awarded a full four-year scholarship to college by the Navy ROTC program. She was selected for the prestigious Immediate Scholarship Reservation by the commanding officer because of her extraordinary academic achievements and her leadership qualities.

Gladden graduated from Moorestown High School with the highest honors and was an AP Scholar with distinction. She is a black belt in Kun Gek Do and was on the high school crew team for four years. She is taking her scholarship to Drexel University, where she will be studying chemical engineering and joining the Navy ROTC program. Upon graduation, she will be commissioned into the Navy as an officer.

Avalon is one of her favorite places and it is where she learned to love the ocean, which is what inspired her decision to join the Navy.

CATE GIULIAN
WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY

Cate Giulian, the daughter of Karl and Amy Giulian of Stone Harbor, graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Cate was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She will begin her career as a communications coordinator at beMarketing in Trooper, Pa.


DAVID GIULIAN
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL

David Giulian, the son of Karl and Amy Giulian of Stone Harbor, graduated from Middle Township High School as a member of the National Honor Society. David was the captain of the football, wrestling and track teams. He holds the school record with 117 wrestling wins and placed sixth in the state. David was also named the Atlantic City Press Male Athlete of the Year. He is working as a fourth-year Avalon lifeguard this summer before heading off to The College of New Jersey, where he will major in education and continue his football career.
