Days Gone By

A look back 30 years this month to August 1991 -- with three legends of the Avalon Beach Patrol. From left, Mike Cras, Craig Whitehead and John Glomb display the 1991 South Jersey Lifeguard Championship trophy outside of Beach Patrol Headquarters. That was Avalon’s second team championship in three years and its fifth since 1980. All three guards in this photo won their first South Jersey Championship that year – Cras and Whitehead in the doubles, Glomb in the singles. And all would go on to capture three South Jersey Championships in their careers.
